ISTANBUL FASHION WEEK is an enormous fashion event which consists of fairs hosting fashion shows, designers and brands. The event is going to take place on 3/6 February 2010 under the auspices of ITKIB and in cooperation with Fashion Designers Association and Istanbul Fashion Academy. It will rock the city with fashion for a week. The event brings together all organizations related to fashion under a single umbrella in an organized platform.

KOZA Young Fashion Designers Contest is an important platform which helps young talents aspiring to pursue a career in fashion design meets the industry.

Trying to enable Istanbul, one of the most mysterious and attractive cities in the world because of its location and history, to inspire the creative minds of the fashion world with its unique identity and character.
General Secretariat of the Istanbul Textile and Apparel Exporters’ Association (ITKIB) is one of them and it comprises of four associations. These are:
· Istanbul Apparel and Ready-to-Wear Exporters Association,
· Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters Association,
· Istanbul Leather and Leather Products Exporters Association and
· Istanbul Carpet Exporters Association.
ITKIB’s main purpose can be expressed as “increasing the export potential and performance of Turkey in the sectors relevant to ITKIB and contributing to the development of both bilateral and multilateral commercial relations by helping its members with their international commercial activities. In order to achieve this goal, ITKIB carries out numerous tasks and activities. The most primary ones can be summarized under the following titles:

- Statistical records,
- Economic research and reporting,
- PR activities,
- Training activities,
- Consultancy services,
- Coordination activities,
- Publishing activities,
- Services and duties on Inward Processing Regime and supporting exports.

The Fashion Designers Association was established on April 16th 2006. 40 people from various disciplines that have contributed to the formation of the fashion industry got together and formed a “common mind”, consequently determining the purpose and objectives of the association.

Creating a Turkish fashion history and fashion designers archive,

Contributing to the development of the Turkish fashion sector by maintaining communication and co-operation between fashion designers and related disciplines.
Our Objectives
Enabling fashion designers to meet with the industry and develop business by organizing Fashion Fairs and Portfolio Days,
Forming the information bank of the Turkish fashion sector by creating a fashion design portal and fashion designers catalogue.
Awakening a fashion design consciousness, lobbying with a view to promote incentives of fashion designers, providing guidance with respect to brand and registering issues.
Realizing Fashion Awards organizations with a view to raising awareness in the market and motivating other disciplines.
Organizing seminars, workshops, internship programs with the co-operation of fashion design departments in universities and institutes, as well as with private educational organizations with a view to contribute to the personal and vocational development of young designers.
Contributing to the fashion industry in Turkey by realizing joint projects with similar international organizations,
Organizing innovative activities with other disciplines related to the fashion sector on the common denominator of “design”,
Developing social responsibility projects in order to contribute to the development of original and marketable products by providing designing support to Turkey’s local values.

IMA was founded as part of the “Fashion and Textile Business Cluster” project realized by the European Union, Undersecretariat of Foreign Trade and ITKIB (the Istanbul Textile and Apparel Exporters’ Associations). Cooperating with ITA (Istanbul Textile and Clothing Research and Development Center), IDM (Istanbul Textile and Clothing Consultancy Center) which are the other members of this huge project that is going to shape the future of the fashion and textile industry in Turkey, IMA focuses on fashion training. IMA has been active since January 2008 and is a member of IFFTI (International Foundation of Fashion Technology Institutes).
Its strong sector related connections as well as its various co-operations with the world’s leading fashion schools including LCF (London College of Fashion) , Domus Academy, IFM (Institut Francais de la Mode) and Polimoda (Italy), strengthen IMA’s local and international connections. Preparing future fashion professionals for the global contest with its staff composed of experienced foreign and local trainers who have industry experience combined with its application based curriculum structured in accordance with the needs of the industry on subjects such as Fashion Design, Fashion Product Development and Technology, Fashion Management and Marketing, Fashion Retail Business, Fashion Photography and Media, IMA operates in Istanbul’s fashion center Nisantasi at the historical Sadrazam Sait Pasa Mansion which has been renovated and equipped with state-of-the-art technology.
In addition to having the largest fashion library in Turkey, which hosts a comprehensive collection of both Turkish and foreign resources, IMA is one of the most important fashion platforms in the country, bringing together the circles of fashion, design and art, thanks to the artistic events it hosts.
